The station is currently owned by Dulce and Maria Rivera, through licensee of Rivera Communications, LLC, and offers programming from Westwood One. The station was signed in 1949. Using the WEDR call sign. The original president of the company that owned the station was J.L. Doss, who previously owned WJLD, another Birmingham station. Most of the early history of the station was broadcast only during the day. At least until 1960, the station changed its call list to WEZB, taking over programming and intellectual property from another station on the market in Birmingham.
